Jerry, if reaction is the measure of a NASCAR writer, then you must be good because I always react! Anyway, I agree with the idea of letting the sponsors get more involved in dealing directly with the cheaters. Look, for years in this sport, NASCAR has bent over backwards to take care of the sponsors in every way possible. They do things like locking in the top 35 in points to provide some sort of guarantee that if you invest in these teams, you’ll be in the show.

It’s about time the sponsors do NASCAR’s dirty work and apply the kind of economic pressure that NASCAR can’t. Companies, of course, can’t be “forced” to help enforce rules. But with the public perception of corporate America in the toilet in the post-Enron era, one would  think these companies would jump at the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to fair play.
